Day 22: Flo’s Back: What Helps with Bloating & Cramping

Flo is back in town for the week.

I didn’t really cramp often before my second daughter, but now I feel like it happens way more often. I’m not sure why that is.

I am just grateful that it does not have me curled up in a ball like some other women.

I have been researching and trying some holistic approaches to getting rid of my mild cramps and bloating as well.

One thing that I have been doing lately is drinking Peppermint Tea. Peppermint tea may help with period cramps, bloating, and other digestive issues. I have been sipping on a big protein shaker cup full of it atleast twice a day since my period started and it actually has decreased some bloating and helped a little with cramping. It has not made those symptoms completely go away, but I do feel a difference, which is good enough for me.

Peppermint tea is also said to help you curb cravings and help freshen your breath naturally.

Breakfast:

Sad little half serving of protein pancakes with raw and unfiltered honey. So, that’s honeycomb that you see. I was not that hungry. If you’ve read other previous posts, you know I’m infatuated with this Kodiak Cakes Almond Poppyseed flavor. I highly recommend you try it. It has the perfect amount of sweetness. I add honey to give it that extra touch. You can of course use some type of low cal or sugar free syrup, but I am trying to stay away from the sugar alcohols and al the bad types of sugar. Honey is natural and has other benefits as well.

Snack:

Cantaloupe with Tajin is the perfect sweet, salty with a hint of sour snack.

Lunch:

Chicken thighs and fajita type veggies. I like my veggies with some crunch left. Soggy anything is nasty to me lol. I just seasoned with pepper and garlic salt. It was perfect.

Snack 2:

I needed something quick and sweet. I made a full serving of these, which completely satisfied my hunger until around 9pm.

Dinner:

Forgot to take a pic of my salad! My bad y’all.

Snack 3:

I love these little portioned packs of mixed nuts and fruit. I always keep them in my purse for when I’m on the go as well.
